Metaplace Closed Its Doors
It is quite often that one sees games close down indefinitely. Some are due to poor programming, others to poor advertising and still others due to lack of luck in general. It is probably for the latter two reasons Metaplace closed January 1, 11:59 p.m.
An in-game party celebrating the end began at noon pacific time Jan. 1 and included a concert performed by Raph himself.
Metaplace closing its doors shocked many of the users, who loved the site and freedom of building allowed by the game engine. Some grieve their loss, while others decry their regrets. Whether there regrets include not having made more worlds or having joined so late into Metaplace’s life, many speculate in the central world of Metaplace, as to what Raph has planned for his work. A few wonder what could have gone wrong to lead Metaplace to close. All around, people tried to make the most out of the last of their time in the game.
It seems heavily eluded to that more content can be looked forward from Raph. His encouragement for people to save their scripts and data as well as formation of a new metaplace forum site (www.metaplaceveterans.com) could mean that a new site is just around the corner. Metaplace Inc., the corporation founded by Raph, isn’t, itself, closing.
There’s still hope. Perhaps the new year will bring an entirely new experience to the internet from Raph.
The phoenix dies for now, but will be reborn again.
